The Lake House Venue Summer Wedding | Shealyn & Brad

Shealyn and Brad were married on a Friday afternoon at The Lake House in Ludington, Michigan. The day started out rainy but by the end of the day we had a peak of sun and some really pretty sunset photos!

Shealyn and Brad’s day was perfect! The décor was elegant with candle light and lots of pretty white flowers and greenery from Flowers by Mary Ann. The bridal party wore black and white and looked amazing thanks to AmberLace & Co for makeup & hair! The venue brought relaxing costal vibes being situated right on the Pere Marquette lake next to a beautiful marina.

Shealyn requested a first look with her mother and soon to be husband. We started with Shealyn’s mom. We set her up outside on the patio and had her close her eyes. Shealyn walked to her, grabbing her mother’s hands. She opened her eyes to look at her gorgeous daughter and smiled. They shared a touching moment and then Shealyn gave her mom a beautiful gift.

Then it was Brad’s turn to see his stunning bride to be! We set up Brad in the same spot as Shealyn’s mom but set him up a bit differently. We had him face away from Shealyn and as she walked up to him she touched his shoulder and he turned around to see her. He smiled and had such a loving look in his eyes. He even shed a tear or two. They then read their vows to one another. We love it when our couples write their own vows and even more so when they read them to each other during a first look. It creates a special moment for the couple and also helps with the timeline of the wedding AND creates more time for the couple to be a part of their reception!

The ceremony was moved inside the venue due to rain, but The Lake House did such an amazing job at transforming the reception. They moved tables and set up the circular arbor. They also turned the lights down and lit a bunch of candles to create a romantic setting for the couple. IT TURNED OUT AMAZING! The ceremony was officiated by Shealyn’s step dad who did a great job! He talked so highly of the couple and shared heartwarming stories about how they’ve been together for fourteen years and share two dogs together.

Dinner was delicious being catered by KJ Catering. They served country fried chicken, brisket with a delicious sauce, roasted vegetables, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and a yummy salad. After dinner the couple cut their beautiful cake catered by Violets Bakery! Then the reception started! The DJ (Bee’s Entertainment) was a blast! He was so amazing to work with and full of energy! He got everyone on the dance floor having a great time.

We we’re lucky enough to have a pretty sunset. It rained most of the day so seeing the sun was really the cherry on top of an already beautiful day. We took the couple outside to take advantage of the marina and the twinkly lights on The Badger (a passenger and car ferry that goes across Lake Michigan to Wisconsin).

After the sunset photos we headed back in to the reception for party time! They brought out the trendy flashing LED light sticks and the rest of the night was history!

Congratulations Shealyn and Brad! Your day was one for the books and will not be soon forgotten!
